Oakland Danger Awareness Campaign (ODAC)

Hello, we are the Danger Management Team, we are working on a project we are calling the Oakland Danger Awareness Campaign. In our project we will repurpose eucalyptus leaves, which are toxic and also come from the invasive eucalyptus tree, which displaces native species and poses an immense fire hazard to make a toxin which we coat on a bladed device designed to shield the catalytic converter of a car. This will make it an exceedingly dangerous proposition to steal the catalytic converter of said car, as cutting through the device would send sharp, toxic fragments flying everywhere. The device itself is only a small part of our project, however, as its impact will be rather limited since we will likely only be able to construct one or maybe 2 of them. It instead will be used primarily as part of a public safety campaign which we will launch in the durant manor neighborhood, located on the border of San Leandro and Oakland. Our campaign will take the form of a series of posters and flyers which will showcase our design. The campaign will have two primary benefits to the local neighborhood. The first will be as a warning to possible catalytic converter thieves, as well as spreading awareness to potential victims of catalytic converter theft. The second benefit will be as an art piece which will serve to raise the spirits of the residents of durant manor, who have had to suffer incredible aesthetic injustice due to their proximity to a residence which many consider the least attractive building in the bay area.
